Rain. Finally!

It's been a rainy weekend so far in Dallas. But we aren't complaining. It hasn't rained in a while so it's been nice. Been getting naps, reading, and RELAXING done which is great for any high school student. Much more a Booker T. student. I find raining somewhat inspirational. Usually when that happens I'll write a song but I'm too much in a daze for that. haha. I've been sleeping waaaay too much.

So far we have finished the 3rd week of the six weeks and are moving very quickly at Booker T. It's unbelieveable how fast time is going by. We're about half way done with the semester! Wow! I should probably do my homework soon but ehh tomorrow night is good too. :P Pop Ensemble and the Midi Ensemble performed last night and I wasn't able to go which was a downer, but I heard it was a great show with a lot of energy! In 3 weeks it's Pre-Area auditions for choir which is nerve wrecking considering I've had NO time to practice at all. But that will have to change! Hopefully the inspiration of the rainy weekend will motivate me to get off my butt and do something... haha maybe...

Fair Day Weekend!

At a school as crazy as Booker T., there's always going to be happy people on Fair Day weekend.
With corn dogs and all of the classy food we call fried food, crazy rides and shows, it's nice to have a break from the insane school week and to be in an normal, fun-social environment without the stress of a hectic school day.
So I had the previlege of spending my weekend with friends from school which was cool because we weren't worrying about things like our solos for vocal tech, or the monologues that we had to memorize for theatre class. So we definitely got to see a different side of one another which was awesome! It will definitely be hard to get back in the swing of things after this weekend. Ugh. How I hate that dreaded "Sunday Night-School-Tomorrow" feeling. Definitely not looking forward to that, and I speak on behalf of everyone haha. But never-the-less at a school like Booker T. nothing will be boring and NOTHING is ever predictable which will still keep us on our toes.

First six weeks complete!

So I pretty much go to the best school ever. Where the students have freedom to be who they want to be without pressure to be someone else. Where they can express themselves. This place is located at the center of the arts district in Dallas, TX which is called Booker T. Washington School of the Performing and Visual Arts. This week sums up the first six weeks of the school year as a Booker T. student. Life is pretty crazy if your hanging out with Glenn Close, the Blue Man Group and soon to be Stephen Sondheim? With most of this insanity, most teachers are good about not letting the craziness get to our heads. Though we are extremely fortunate about being in a unique and artistic environment, we are just the normal and fun-loving students that anyone would find at any other school with a more hectic lifestyle of coarse. I find it amazing that most of us can keep up with schoolwork, friends, and our art practice with a few hours of sleep now and then. Because not only is this school known for the arts, but for the academics as well, with almost 100 % of students going to college.
Basically when you walk into the building you can almost taste the artistic and original ideas floating in the air.
With music, visual art, dance and theatre, who needs sports? :)
